All our research is related to the emergence of synergetics: the self-formation and self-organisation of complex adaptive hybrid agent networks.
We take inspiration from successful self-organizing systems that one finds in nature, such as the human brain, insect colonies, and swarms of birds.
Hybrid networks involve people, organizations, physical and virtual objects, but also climatological, biological, socio-economic and ecological systems. These networks are connected, monitored and coordinated by information, computing, storage and communication systems (ICT).
Our research revolves around:
In support of this research, we focus on:
> Sensing & pattern recognition
> Actuation & (swarm) robotics
In order to facilitate R&D, we have developed a software development toolkit called CHAP (Common Hybrid Agent Platform), which is continuously enriched. CHAP provides a flexible and scalable base architecture for building adaptive complex and distributed hybrid agent technologies.
