PROTOCOL BRIDGES

Project Summary

There are many challenges in allowing agent systems to operate in a dynamic, self-organising and fully scalable way. Many different parts need to communicate to each other, new ones must be allowed to enter, etc. For this it is important that they understand each other when communicating.

The Protocol Bridges project develops methods for bridging the gap between different protocols dynamically and self-learning, thereby allowing for maximum flexibility and adaptability of the network.

The aim of the project is the development of a universal framework (multi-agent system), which facilitates communications (and access to both active and inactive knowledge databases) anytime, anywhere, independent of hardware resources, without being dependent on central nodes.

Research fellows work on a multi-disciplinary basis, combining insights from Internet protocols and telecommunication protocols, artificial intelligence and multi-agent solutions. They thus contribute to the fundamental research area for protocol bridges with a strong link to the agent technology research area.
